9 A. That would have been speaking -- I spoke with someone
10 I would say three, four months ago.

13 A. No, I was in the US. They were in France.

15 Q. You spoke to them on the telephone?
16 A. Yes.

18 Q. About the situation in France as regards -- was that about
19 Lyon?
20 A. No, that was about ----

23 should leave it. Even so it is going to be hearsay

27 A. Yes, it was. It was about hiring of specific
28 individuals, management individuals.

30 Q. Are you aware of a dispute in Lyon last summer which ended
31 up with the arrest of McDonald's managers for interfering
32 with union elections?
33 A. I am not aware of any arrest. I am aware that from
34 time to time there have been some objections to elections
35 in Lyon, I am talking about concerning some election
36 procedure, but I am not aware of the details. Again, these
37 elections are something that take place every year. There
38 is a collective agreement with the union in France. I do
39 not get involved with things that are happening every year
40 in France that are normally normal and regular and that
41 I do not fully understand.

43 Q. Well, are you aware of an investigation being undertaken, a
44 judicial investigation, into the conduct of McDonald's
45 managers regarding the undermining and sabotaging of union
46 elections?
47 A. No.

50 A. I am aware of some objections to an election or two,
51 but I am not aware of any detail surrounding that
52 whatsoever.

59 A. It would not do me any good because they would be in
