Day 140 - 22 Jun 95 - Page 29

MS. STEEL: Where does it say that it was looking back at the
two months when the PUP survey was done?
       A. I know what they did. It is probably in here
somewhere, but I cannot put my finger on it.

  Q. What happened to this report?
       A. It was given to various community leaders and others.

  Q. No. Mr. Rampton asked you whether you presented the
conclusions to the black clergy, the sisters, and so on and
so forth, and you said "yes"?
       A. That is correct.

  Q. They never saw the report, did they?
       A. They saw what we have in front of us.

  Q. Right -- which is not the report?
       A. It is not all of the work of TPF & C, that is correct.

  Q. It is not the report, is it?
       A. This is a summary of that report.

  Q. It is not the report, though?
       A. It is a summary of that report. The pages here are
extracts from that report. The wording of the methodology,
etcetera, is from that report. It is not our words.

  Q. Why did you not ever release the full report to the
       community organisations?
       A. We offered it to the black ministers and we offered it
to Sister Marie-Lucy, who I met with several sisters.

  Q. When did you offer it to them?
       A. There were several meetings in Philadelphia with black
ministers, that I attended over about a year and a half
period, and, during those meetings, I offered to go over
with them anything they wanted to go over. With
Sister Marie-Lucy, I had a meeting in New York -- and
       I cannot recall exactly -- we did not meet in Philadelphia;
her office was in New York. Subsequent to that first
meeting, I offered -- because she still had some questions
-- to meet with her again and to give her whatever
       additional data she wanted.

  Q. If you turn to tab 89?
       A. Which book, the one we are in?

  Q. Same one. The date on this letter is January 15th, 1990,
although I believe it is a mistake with the date, because
the letters appear to be in chronological order.

MR. RAMPTON: My Lord, It is plainly a mistake. If one looks at
the body of the letter, one sees two things: first, there
is a date of 30th April 1990, and reference to a newspaper
article; more, there is a reference to the Gulf Crisis
which we all know was in January 1991.

THE WITNESS: Yes. I met Sister Marie way after this thing
       started.
