17 Q. Since when have you been trading in a private capacity as a
18 consultant on Hygiene and Safety?
19 A. Since 1985.

21 Q. When did you qualify as an Environmental Health Officer?
22 A. In 1964.

24 Q. I think from then, for five or six years, you have
25 practised as an Environmental Health Officer in various
26 parts of the Midlands?
27 A. That is correct, yes.

29 Q. Working, I assume, for local authorities in that area?
30 A. Absolutely.

32 Q. Did you in 1970 join Rank Hovis McDougall involved as a
33 Regional Hygiene and Safety Officer?
34 A. I did.

36 Q. Did you obtain the Licentiate of the Royal Society for the
37 Prevention of Accidents?
38 A. Yes, I did.

40 Q. What does that involve?
41 A. It involves a full-time, four-week course, with an
42 examination at the end of it. One had to achieve a certain
43 percentage to be awarded a licentiate.

45 Q. Did you then become Senior Specialist Hygiene and Safety
46 Officer with Rank Hovis McDougall?
47 A. I did, yes.

49 Q. When did you leave them?
50 A. I left them in 1980.

55 Q. Where, eventually, you became group adviser with a team of
56 EHOs underneath you; is that right?
