14 company owned, and operated, while the others are
15 independently owned franchised stores?

19 been associated with McDonald's for many years". The last
20 sentence of the second to last paragraph, says -- this is
21 to all crew members presumably, yes?

25 refresh yourself with McDonald's policies"?

28 Q. So, this is the handbook disclosed with the statement of
29 Michael Makin, owner of Pantry Franchise Ireland Limited.

31 the McDonald's system, McDonald's corporate identity,
32 policies or whatever?

34 organisation within the McDonald's family.

40 A. If you went through this Handbook, and compared it with
41 McDonald's Restaurants Limited Handbook or a McDonald's
42 Corporation handbook, you would find local differences, not
43 great but local differences.

45 Q. That is right, and that would apply if it was McDonald's
46 Spain, or McDonald's Germany, whether there were a direct
47 branch of the Corporation, or an independent?
48 A. It would apply if it was McDonald's Macclesfield, which
49 is a franchised restaurants. He has his own Handbook.

51 Q. But effectively they are part of what he calls "McDonald's
52 policies". They are subject to McDonald's policies?

56 A. No, he is talking about McDonald's in the family
57 sense. But as an independent franchisee, as long as he
58 conforms to the requirements of the franchise agreement he
59 has signed, he can act independently otherwise.
