Day 120 - 03 May 95 - Page 24

       they not?
       A. Yes, and I said so, so that I could explain the Company
       position.

  Q. Exactly. If we go to the notice board, prohibition on crew
members putting up information on the notice boards, you
said the notice board is for management to communicate to
       staff?
       A. Yes.

  Q. Is that correct?
       A. And there are certain legal requirements for us to
display certain notices which are very large.

  Q. But it does not allow staff to communicate to each other,
       does it?
       A. That is not the intention of the notice board, no.

  Q. It is prohibited, is it not? If staff want to inform other
       staff about some -----
       A. They can communicate social events in which the staff
       are indulging.

  Q. So, if the staff wanted to organise, what, any social event
or do they have to ask permission of the manager?
       A. No, they must ask permission of the manager.

  Q. So anything in terms of concerns about conditions -----
       A. No. The proper means of bringing those to attention
       are at the rap session.

  Q. Exactly -- to somebody in the hierarchy of McDonald's?
       A. Yes.

  Q. You said that the notice board would not allow anything to
do with trades unions, then you added political or
religious organisations, only social events. You said,
regarding seeking subscriptions, most managers would not
allow collections for charity, so managers can allow staff
       to collect for charity?
       A. If it is authorised, yes.

  Q. If it is authorised.
       A. Yes.

  Q. So, in fact, I think it is gross misconduct -- it may not
be gross misconduct, actually -- the seeking subscriptions,
do you happen to remember if that is gross misconduct or if
       that is just standard misconduct?
       A. To tell you the truth, I am .....

  Q. I cannot find it actually anywhere.

MR. RAMPTON: My Lord, there is not anything about it, of
course, is the reason. What, I think, Mr. Morris has in
mind (as he had yesterday when he was focusing on
disciplinary matters) was basically outlines of
responsibility, which, for example, is page 130 on tab 3 of
pink file XI. It is letter K. It is not to do with
       misconduct, gross or otherwise.
