9 A. I live at 47 Smith Street.

12 A. Yes.

15 A. Yes, it is three houses from the Kings Road.

17 Q. Are you close to a McDonald's restaurant?
18 A. Yes.

20 Q. I will just ask you a few questions about yourself: You
21 are a journalist; is that correct?
22 A. I am a retired journalist, yes. I write books now.

24 Q. Did you achieve some prominence amongst journalists in
25 terms of recognition, for example, with the National Union
26 of Journalists?
27 A. I was a member of the National Union of Journalists
28 Executive Committee, yes.

30 Q. How long have you lived at Smith Street?
31 A. At this address, 36 years.

33 Q. Were you a founder member of the local Residents
34 Association?
35 A. Yes, I was its first Secretary as well, yes.

37 Q. That is the Smith Street Residents Association?
38 A. That is right.

41 A. Which is still going.

44 A. In 1979, I think.

46 Q. You have been active in the Residents Association since,

48 A. Yes.

50 Q. Have you been elected to positions in that Residents
51 Association in the last few years?
52 A. No, I have moved on really to do my residents work with
53 the Royal Hospital Wards Residents Association, which is an
54 overall body handling 33, 35 different residents
55 associations.

58 A. It is an umbrella organisation.
