specifications or any ----
A. No.

Q. Word of mouth, contacts with suppliers about it or what?
A. Not that I am aware of. Our supplier, McKey, may have
a policy with their suppliers but I am not aware of any
policy -- certainly not for McDonald's.

Q. You are in charge of food purchasing for Northern Europe
and the UK and Ireland, yes?
A. Correct.

Q. Do you happen to know what kind of percentage of cattle
that may be destined for McDonald's would be using some
kind of soya feed?
A. No, I do not.

Q. At all?
A. No.

Q. You have never discussed it with anyone?
A. No.

Q. Are you aware, though, that soya feed is used in the UK and
Denmark and Germany for cattle raising?
A. I believe it is part of the feed in the winter months,
yes.

Q. Do you want to go to a document -- if I can find it -- it
is pink V, tab 37. It is "McDonald's And The
Environment". If you look at the bottom on page 2 it says
"McDonald's Corporation 9/91", yes?
A. Yes.

Q. If you go back to the front page, I think you said
something about a McDonald's Environmental Policy statement
emanating from the USA -- I cannot remember if it was you
actually or Mr. Van Erp -- is this the McDonald's
Corporation Environmental Policy statement, as far as you
can see?
A. It was not me that said it, but it appears to be; I do
not know if it actually is.

Q. If you just read, say, the first paragraph. Have you seen
this document before?
A. I have not seen this document before, no. I do not
deal with the environment in McDonald's.

Q. Right, OK then. But if it affected your department it
would be relevant?
A. We would be alerted to any statements that affected our
department.

Q. It has various things about foam packaging. If you turn
over the page it has a section on tropical rainforests?
A. Yes.

Q. If you look at the third block down under tropical
rainforests it says: "In the United States, we use 100
per cent domestically grown beef. In Canada, we use 100
